Organizing since 2021, S.M.A.C operates three mutual aid meal programs in the Seattle core.
We feed over 150 people between our UDistrict, Capitol Hill, and Downtown locations.
Every single week.
Leaving an indelible mark on the landscape of tomorrow.

All important discussion happens on the ground.
This avoids creating distinct classes of “thinkers” and “doers”, a division rooted in capitalist hierarchy.
S.M.A.C does not hold meetings. We are action-oriented.

No One Is Coming To Save Us
Every program we run starts with normal people, just like you, taking their power back. We do not say “It would be cool if someone else did…”, we say “It would be cool if I did…”
Have an idea? We won’t stop you. Implement it.
Because no one else is going to do it.
Our Programs
From a few friends cooking for five people crashing on their porch, the S.M.A.C has since grown to encompass multiple organized meals throughout Seattle.

Questions?
How do I join?
Unlike many other groups, we don’t hold regular meetings or operate a sign-up sheet.
All important discussion happens on the ground.
Show up to University Heights Community Center during our Peoples Breakfast Program, Sundays 10am to Noon.
We’ll put you to work.
Why no meetings?
Discussion happens on the ground. Participation is prerequisite to making your voice heard.
Meetings that occur apart from the work create conditions for a class of “thinkers” (read: middle managers) to develop.
In our experience, this divide reproduces capitalist divisions of labor which leave groups susceptible to infighting and obstruction. Can’t cointelpro a meeting if there’s no meeting to cointelpro!
Wait…so I can just show up with an idea and do it?
Our guiding principle is that no one–no politician, no elected official, and no leftist messiah–is coming to save us.
We strongly encourage people take their futures into their own hands.
“It would be cool if someone did X” is a banned phrase in our group.
“It would be cool if I brought cookies next week” is the first step in a long road to reclaiming our collective agency, imagination, and future. No one is coming to save us. We take care of each other.
I’m part of a mutual aid group. Can we join the S.M.A.C?
Yes! We are committed to collective organizing and collaboration.
Consolidating grocery runs to save time, comprehensive end of year reporting, peer to peer funding options, and community space access are a few ways we’ve benefited our partner programs.
Plus, the patches look pretty cool… (in our opinion…)
Interested in talking through options?
Show up to our Peoples Breakfast at University Heights Community Center, Sundays at 10am, and ask for JJ!
